You know what I realized tonight? I finally look like an athlete. I’ve always envied girls where when you look at them you can just tell they work hard at their sport, and for me, my sport is lifting.
I’m really proud of myself :)
The first photo was taken January 10th, 2011. The last 3 were taken today, May 1st, 2012. I have been lifting seriously for about 5 months now. I was once the girl with no booty and now I’m finally getting one :)
Girls, LIFTING WEIGHTS DOES NOT MAKE YOU BULKY. It makes you have sexy curves. So stop being afraid and get in the damn squat rack.
Omigosh. Sorry about the crappy quality but DO YOU GUYS SEE THAT.
I HAVE A BUTT.
AND QUADS.
I LOVE LIFTING WEIGHTS.
And yes I’m wearing Wonder Woman shorts. Pretty appropriate for how I feel right now :)
I need some tips for this upcoming school year!
How do you handle eating right while on campus? This includes parties. And how do you time manage?
*I plan on working a lot this summer to save up for a sorority, so I hope to only have to work a few days a week.
I did chest and abs tonight! :)
Post shoulders workout!
- My arms don’t look so skinny in t-shirts anymore.
- I can eat giant breakfasts that would normally keep me full till mid afternoon and be hungry two hours later.
- My quads and hamstrings actually stand out in my jeans, not just yoga pants.
- My forearms are bigger.
- My heart beats slower and healthier.
- When shaving, my legs feel much more muscular, especially my calves.
- When I’m looking for something up high, I can stand on my tiptoes much longer.
:)
I love being the perfect gym contradiction: adorable curled ponytail, cute outfit…typical cardio queen look. Then I enter the weight room and demolish my bulking routine.
Yeah. Get at me bro.
For boyfriend. This is what I was talking about today on the leg extension machine…haha. Yeah.
I LOVE going to the gym when it’s crowded. I love having an audience when I’m busting my ass. It’s kind of a confidence booster :)
Before, I was terrified of the weight room…I thought everyone would judge me if I did the moves wrong or acted like I didn’t know what I was doing. Now that I’m comfortable and feel at home there, I get thumbs ups from the guys when they see me doing cleans and deadlifts. Want to know why? Because they respect what I’m doing. They respect the fact that there’s a girl there (not saying I’m the only one though) that actually lifts weights and heavy weights at that. I mean these huge men are congratulating me on my form and telling me to keep it up so I can kick some of those weak boys out of there! Haha ;)
It’s such an amazing feeling to know I’ve come so far. And there is no way in hell I’m stopping now.
Lift heavy. Get sexy. That’s my motto.
You can’t tell what a person’s lifestyle is by looking at them. That sexy fitness model? She’s currently extremely dehydrated and on a low calorie (probably too low), restrictive diet to look like that. That girl who’s hipbones stick out? She’s naturally thin, loves to run and bike, and eats over 1,800 calories a day of nutritious foods.
The next time you judge a person’s health by the way they look, take a second to think.
No, I’m not doing this for a boy to like me.
No, I’m not doing this for a pair of size zero shorts.
No, I’m not doing this to make girls jealous of me.
I’m not doing this for a boy to be able to pick me up.
I’m not doing this for a thigh gap.
I’m not doing this for ribs, collarbones, skinny wrists, or hipbones.
I’m not doing this for a summer holiday.
And I’m definitely not doing this for a number on the scale.
I’m doing this for my health.
I’m doing this for my heart, my brain, my lungs.
I’m doing this to prove that women can “take care” of themselves.
I’m doing this to show girls that strong is sexy, that lifting weights isn’t scary, and that eating over 1,200 calories is okay. Even great!
I’m doing this to prove to myself that I can transform into the woman I’ve dreamed I’d be.
I’m doing this for life.
So, are you with me?
As many of you know, I’m a senior in high school, have a job, and consistently work out six days a week (unless injured/really sick). So how do I do it? I plan. That’s all you really can do!
Hitting the Gym
Currently, I go to school from 7:30-2:10. When I’m not working, I’ll usually hit the gym anywhere from 3-4:30 and be home around 6:30 at the latest. I’ve found that I won’t be able to do anything productive (like homework) unless I get my workout done early. So once I get home, I’ll have my protein shake then dinner.
If I’m working, I do my best to get to the gym straight after school. Meaning, wearing as much of my workout gear to school as I can (sports bra, running tights/capris or shorts under sweats, running shoes) and keep the rest in my car (notebook, headphones, water bottle, iPhone armband, lifting gloves). However, if I work at 4pm, I don’t have enough time to go to the gym straight after school. In this case, I’ll either make it my scheduled rest day or go right after work (I usually get off around 8pm).
If you are short on time, try super sets (performing two exercises back to back with no rest in between)! It’s an amazing time saver and really kills your muscles…in a good way! ;)
On the weekends, I try to get my workouts done before noon, just so I have time to chill the rest of the day :)
And for those wondering, my gym workouts usually last 1 hour (if just lifting/abs) to 1.5-2 hours (if lifting, cardio, and abs).
Eating Clean
For my meals, I pick a day on the weekend to cook a butt load of tilapia, grilled chicken, brown rice, quinoa, and/or my pasta. I’ve decided that I also want to start making Theresa’s (thefameofhealthandfitness) protein pancakes ahead of time as well, so I can just grab, warm up, and go! :)
So take some time at the beginning of each week to look at your work/social schedule to figure out when you can hit the gym/cook. If your fitness and health are really a priority in your life, you will find time to fit it all in.
From the summer…had to change the watermark.
Remember when I was tan? Haha :)
